Shining Through the Years: Celebrating National Assisted Living Week

Every person deserves the opportunity to live with dignity, independence, and a sense of belonging.

September 13–19 marks National Assisted Living Week, an annual observance established by the National Center for Assisted Living in 1995 to recognize the people who make assisted living communities special; including residents, families, caregivers, staff, volunteers, and community partners. This year’s theme, “Shining Through the Years,”celebrates the experiences, wisdom, and individuality that each person brings to their community.

At 3i Housing of Maine, we believe this message extends beyond a single week. For adults with disabilities, having a safe and supportive home can be an important part of building independence, maintaining connections, and living life on their own terms.

A home should be more than four walls. It should be a place where people feel safe, welcomed, supported, and empowered to pursue the life they want.

National Assisted Living Week gives us an opportunity to celebrate the people who help make that possible AND to recognize the importance of creating communities where everyone has the opportunity to shine throughout every stage of life.
